The Brownie Holiday and Sleepovers

Every half term we organise outings and adventures away from our hall, these not only widen most Brownies knowledge and experience of their communities and wider world, but they also develop the girls self confidence and self awareness skills.

Recent experiences have included, Kew Gardens, Swimming, The London Wetland centre, Orienteering, Trooping of the colour, legoland, Shepreth animal park, christmas craft day......I could go on and on!

There is usually an additional charge for these activities (although we do try very hard to keep these costs to a minimum)

We encourage parents to let us know if there are any difficulties meeting costs as we would far rather have your Brownie with us!

Take a look at our Photo news pages to see pictures of most of our recent outings/experiences.

.

The Brownie Holiday is the highlight of most girls lifetime as a brownie. We try very hard to have one every year, usually in summer time.

Often it will be the first time that a Brownie has stayed away from home, and we are very experienced at allaying any fears and making every girl feel valued and safe whilst she is away witth us.

Brownies learn many skills whilst on their holiday and there is never a moment to be bored!

Recent holidays have taken place at Wymondley wood guide holiday home and Tolmers scout activity centre in Cuffley.

Take a look at our Photo news pages to see pictures of all our recent holidays.

In addition to this we also try to plan 1 or 2 sleepovers each year, usually these are held at our hall. These are always tied in as a badge actiivty - so that Brownies who attend will complete an entire badge during the event.

Shepreth 2006

The promise/Promise ceremony

For the first 6-8 weeks your Brownie will be settling in, making friends and working through her becoming a Brownie booklet.

You will see the date of your daughters enrolment (or promise) ceremony on the programme for that term. It is on this evening that we recommend that she wear her uniform for the first time.

Once she has made her promise in front of the pack, and become a proper Brownie she is presented with her promise box and book. it is now that her Brownie Adventure really begins, and she can begin to work for badges, certificates and awards.

Her Brownie Adventure will have started - and what a lot of fun we will all have too! :-)
